Find Cheaper Fuel with Google Maps

UK motorists can now check live petrol and diesel prices directly through Google Maps, making it easier to compare local forecourts and find cheaper fuel.

Launched on 8 October, the new feature uses data from the Government’s Fuel Finder platform, which provides near real-time pricing information from 99% of UK forecourts.

With fuel costs continuing to put pressure on motorists, the update is expected to improve price transparency and encourage greater competition between fuel retailers. The average price of diesel recently reached a record £2 per litre, highlighting the importance of finding ways to reduce motoring costs.

The feature also aims to make it easier for drivers to identify more competitively priced forecourts, helping them make informed decisions before filling up.

Google Maps joins existing platforms, including Waze, the AA and RAC Fuel Watch, in making fuel price information more accessible to drivers.

What does this mean for motorists?

  • Easier price comparisons: Check local petrol and diesel prices before setting off.
  • Potential savings: Find cheaper fuel options in your area.
  • Greater transparency: Compare forecourts more easily and make informed choices.

As fuel prices remain a key consideration for UK drivers, tools that make it easier to compare costs could help motorists manage their everyday motoring expenses.
